2022 GMC Sierra 1500
For the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, coming in second to anyone is not an option. This year GMC went out of its way to make this Sierra stand out among the crowd of other full-sized pickup trucks. It comes in a wide range of trim levels, with several new additions to each trim level as well as some new features for the entire vehicle, such as the new hands-free driving features.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
GMC knew exactly what their audience wanted when they released all eight of their 2022 Sierra 1500 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, and AT4X. The AT4 is an off-road machine, but the AT4X has extra features for tougher off-road performance with a luxury ride. All trim levels offer convenient manual-adjust trailering mirrors, with power-adjustable mirrors as an available option. Every Sierra truck also comes with an industry-leading transparent trailer view and a six-function Multipro tailgate. Each trim comes with a unique combination of wheel sizes, assist steps, chrome or body-color bumpers, and more.
This year, there are seven different color options to choose from as well.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 offers four different engine options. The first one is a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four that pushes out 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. This engine is an option in the Pro, SLE, and Elevation trim levels. Next up is the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 pushing out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For the upper trim levels, there is a 6.2-liter V-8 that puts out 420 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque. Last, but certainly not least, is the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six diesel engine. This engine produces 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
This year's Sierra 1500 has no trouble keeping up with the demands most commonly put on trucks, from safely and comfortably transporting passengers to towing a trailer. A maximum towing capacity of 13,200 pounds with the addition of an optional trailering package means that this truck is ready for any project. It can tow the family camper for a fun getaway, tow a trailer for moving, or haul anything you need for work. Almost all of the available trim levels for 2022 have the option of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. And each engine has the option of pairing with an eight-speed or a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Interior
GMC focused on revamping the cabin interior to be more user-friendly and appealing. With the new 13.4-inch landscape-oriented touch screen paired with the 12-speaker Bose audio system and wireless phone charging, the front cabin showcases the best of 2022 vehicle technology.
Safety Features
No matter how tough a truck is built or how well it performs, drivers and passengers alike also deserve a full suite of safety features. Some of the newer safety features on the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 include the forward-collision warning system, lane departure warning system, and blind-spot monitoring system. All three of these safety features complement the new hands-free driving feature. Also backing up these new safety features are the automated emergency braking system and the rear cross-traffic alert.
